A true epitome of beauty and grace, Piyali will take over the global stage and represent the true essence of India with her unmatched elegance and confidence. The journey of Dr Roy from dental drills to high heels and frills is no less exciting than a Bollywood movie. From being a dental surgeon, research scholar, a faculty member at med schools, dancer, actor, to author and model — USA-based Piyali is someone who wears many hats and all with finesse.
In fact, Piyali's newly-released book, ‘10 Rules of Confidence: Essential for Women Empowerment and Success' (https://amzn.eu/d/4fdwF5J) is sure to inspire and motivate readers. Her latest book is available on Amazon. Born and brought up in Kolkata, Piyali always had a creative bent of mind, which made her a multi-talented and multi-faceted individual. Having been a trained Kathak and Bharatnatyam dancer (since the age of three), Piyali never took her education for granted. After completing her dentistry degree from the University of Calcutta, she went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the esteemed New York University.
Today, Dr Roy is a practicing dental surgeon in the United States and holds a Master's degree in Public Health. Her expertise in the field has been recognized by the American Public Health Association (APHA), who awarded her as the Best Student in 2007. Dr Roy is also a renowned national conference speaker on dental health and public health in the US.
Piyali is committed to giving back to society and serves the underserved population in Washington DC. She organizes dental camps and spearheads the ‘Smile’ dental bus that visits public schools and underserved communities. She is associated with the American Dental Association (ADA), and back in India, she was affiliated with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and Rotary Club. She also works with UNICEF.
In addition to her dental profession, Dr Roy has also made her mark as a model and actor. She recently sashayed down the runway in the New York Fashion Week, where she broke beauty barriers and showcased her grace and elegance on the ramp as a role model for professional women in the USA from different ethnic backgrounds. Recently, the doctor-turned-model also has been crowned Mrs India Universal Petit 2023 in the USA.
A mom to two toddlers, Dr Roy also fights period poverty. Her mission is to empower the society by bringing financial freedom through specialized skill set education and training to underserved population.
