It was not just another Saturday at BDM International. On 13th September 2025, the school campus turned into a hub of health awareness and kindness with the initiative “Wellness with Kindness.” The event was brought to life by BDM International, the Alumni Association, and the Interact Club, with Ruby General Hospital extending its support.
The morning began with teachers, former teachers, and school staff walking into the Stepping Stone (P2) Building to register for the free health camp. What followed was a well-structured process — BMI check, blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse rate, SpO2 level — each step handled with care. For many teachers, it was a long-overdue check-up, one they often postponed while keeping up with classes. Doctors ensured they left with practical advice: dietician Suchismita De spoke about food habits, Dr. Saurav Paul supervised lung function tests, and Samapti Dhang carried out ECG examinations.
But health check-ups were just one part of the story. The event also celebrated the legacy of Ruby General Hospital with the release of its Coffee Table Book, a chronicle of 30 years of service. Principal Madhumita Sengupta, while addressing the gathering, reflected on the shift: “We usually host cultural programs, but this year we wanted to prioritize health. Teachers dedicate themselves to students and often miss looking after their own wellbeing. This camp is for them.”
The initiative also unveiled the Friends in Need – Priority Family Health Card, a gesture that ensures 10–20% discounts on consultations, indoor charges, and diagnostics for teachers and alumni families. Adding to the spirit of kindness, the Old Clothes Collection Drive was launched, running until 19th September, with distribution set for the 21st.
Among those present were Vice-Principal Komalika Bhowmick, Ms. Shibeta Samaddar (General Manager, Growth & Development, Ruby General Hospital), Mr. Amit Ray (Head of Marketing, Ruby General Hospital), Alumni Association President Shubhamoy Samanta, and executive committee members. The event was anchored by Avanti Acharya, whose presence kept the program flowing seamlessly.
“Wellness with Kindness” was not just a health camp or a launch event. It was a reminder — that when a community comes together, wellness extends beyond the individual and kindness becomes a collective act.
