Kolkata : Tata Power Solaroof on Thursday launched its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ initiative in West Bengal, targeting rooftop solar adoption across 3 lakh homes over the next three years. The initiative offers residential consumers zero-upfront-cost financing options, alongside government subsidies, to make rooftop solar installations more accessible.
The campaign comes ahead of Durga Puja, with the company seeking to encourage households across urban, semi-urban and rural areas to switch to renewable energy. Tata Power Solaroof will offer rooftop solar systems ranging from 1 kW to 10 kW to cater to different household electricity requirements.
To reduce the initial financial burden on consumers, Tata Power has partnered with Aerem to provide financing options featuring zero upfront investment, monthly instalments, flexible repayment options and solar insurance coverage, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
Under the financing plan, the indicative monthly EMI for a 1 kW rooftop solar system is ₹1,968 before subsidy and ₹1,214 after accounting for applicable subsidy benefits. For a 3 kW system, the indicative EMI is ₹5,413 before subsidy and ₹3,451 after subsidy. The repayment tenure for the listed system capacities is 60 months.
Eligible residential consumers can also avail of central financial assistance under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The subsidy is ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for a 2 kW system and up to ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above, subject to the scheme’s guidelines and eligibility conditions.
The initiative also includes battery energy storage solutions that allow consumers to store surplus solar power for later use. Tata Power’s residential battery storage offerings range from 5 kWh to 40 kWh, while its PowerHub portfolio for commercial and industrial consumers covers capacities from 60 kWh to 5 MWh.
As part of its rural outreach, the company will roll out the ‘Mera Gaon, Mera Solar’ programme to promote rooftop solar adoption in rural and semi-urban areas through awareness campaigns and community engagement.
“On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, Tata Power is delighted to launch its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in West Bengal, making clean energy more accessible through rooftop solar solutions and easy financing options. We encourage households to avail the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to make solar adoption even more affordable,” said Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and managing director of Tata Power.
He added that the company’s plan to reach 3 lakh homes in West Bengal over the next three years would support the state’s clean energy transition while helping consumers gain greater control over their electricity generation and consumption.
According to the company, Tata Power Solaroof has completed 4,413 rooftop solar installations in West Bengal, with a cumulative installed capacity of 117.17 MWp. These installations are estimated to avoid nearly 1.4 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, an environmental impact the company compares to planting more than 58 lakh trees per year.
Across India, Tata Power Solaroof had completed 5,74,948 rooftop solar installations, with a cumulative installed capacity of more than 5.67 GWp, as of September 30, 2026.
The company is also expanding its clean mobility infrastructure in West Bengal, where it has 208 public and semi-public EV charging points and more than 6,380 home charger installations.
